Holy Cross Jr. Girls Volleyball Team 2025-2026: Ready to Win

As the 2025-2026 school year begins, the Holy Cross Jr. The Girls Volleyball team is already putting in hard work. The energy, commitment, and love each girl brings to the team show that we have a lot of potential. With our first game coming up on December 2nd, we are lucky to say it is going to be a home game, and we're ready to win.

The First to Many...
Holy Cross’ First Homecoming

On Tuesday, October 14, Holy Cross hosted its first ever Homecoming, to celebrate the Senior Boys Soccer Team! The school’s student government did a wonderful job organizing the event, with decorations everywhere and multiple food trucks to keep students satisfied. Students who bought tickets were allowed to leave school during B lunch and enjoy the food trucks, with food options of shawarmas, churros, burgers, and ice cream.

Serving Up Success at The YRAA West Tournament

On October 9th, our Co-Ed Junior and Senior Tennis teams represented Holy Cross at the YRAA West Tournament, held at Mayfair Club East in Markham. The event brought together schools from across the region for a day of competition and teamwork. Our teams showcased impressive skills throughout the tournament, with both junior and senior athletes displaying exceptional sportsmanship on and off the court.

The End of a Season...
Ultimate Frisbee Team Caps Off Athletic Season with Tournament

School sports season wrapped up this month with our last team, the Ultimate Frisbee Team, finishing off their season with their tournament on June 5th. Before that, they had to play their YRAA regular season, which started on May 7th with two games, one against both Father Bressani and Maple HS, respectively. In their first game, the Hawks lost a tight one to Bressani 7-5, but they immediately bounced back for a victory over Maple with a final score of 5-4.

Softball Season...
Varsity Softball: Pitch Perfect

This month, our Hawks soared into action as the girls’ Varsity Softball Team went into a 3 tournament season. The team led by coaches Ms. Celebra and Ms. Frezza, played their midseason tournament at Tudor Park against Tommy Douglas Secondary School and Father Bressani. The tournament was successful with a loss and a thrilling win! The girls performed exceptionally well and learned to work as a team with great plays in the outfield and infield.

Varsity Boys Baseball battles to Quarterfinals

By Santiago Ortega As the school year winds down, baseball season starts up. With May, came the Varsity Baseball regular season. A season originally in doubt to happen, due to scheduling problems with the YRAA, ended up being a successful one, where our Hawks continued their playoff streak. The first game took place May 8 against our rival Father Bressani Eagles. The boys went down early 2-0 in the first inning.

Thrills on Hills

Fresh air, falling snow, and a great time comes to those in the ski and snowboard club this February! The Holy Cross Ski and Snowboard Club just had their first and second outing this month at Blue mountain! Due to the hard work and meticulous planning of teachers Ms Noble, Ms D'Ippolito, Mr Testani, Mr Galati, and Mr Mignella, students were able to enjoy an after school trip consisting of memories that last a lifetime.

Senior Boys Basketball Puts Up a Strong Finish to Regular Season

The Senior Boys Basketball Team wrapped up playoff action this previous month, finishing off an impressive regular season as 3rd in the YRAA Tier 1 West division. Coming back from the Christmas break, the Hawks had 2 January regular season games left to play to ensure their spot in the playoffs. Starting off on January 7th, the boys headed west on Highway 7 to play the rival Father Bressani Eagles at Father Bressani.

Senior Boys Hockey Returns to the Ice

As temperatures outside get colder every week, every Canadian knows what time it is: hockey season. It has been no different at Holy Cross with the senior boys’ hockey season kicking off recently. With a roster full of new faces, the boys looked to recapture the magic from two seasons ago when they won the YRAA Tier 2 title.

Senior Boys Basketball: The Wake Up Call

And with that, the 2024/25 boys basketball season has commenced. This month, The Hawks started off their season to a jolting start. The team lost their first home opener against Maple High School but redeemed themselves just days later against Tommy Douglas Secondary School.

Holy Cross Hawks Fall Playoff Roundup

With the fall slate of the YRAA season wrapping up, the playoff season was quickly upon us this previous month. Three 3 sports teams ran this fall season at Holy Cross with all their seasons ending in different ways. Firstly, the junior boys' volleyball season sadly ended before the playoffs as the juniors could not qualify for the playoffs.
