What Makes A Good Student
By: Madison Bruch

A student must have several qualities that will allow them to become an exceptional student. The first step a student should take to improve their skills in school is to practice being on time to each class. Arriving to class on time will allow students to view the full lesson being taught and to hear the teacher fully explain. Paying attention in class during a lesson is the most important thing that a student can do.

The Month Full of Kindness
By: Ashley Cianfrani

Kindness is something we should not only share with ourselves, but with others around us. Don’t Sleep on Getting Sleep!
By: Ethan Pham

The majority of students who stumble across this article will be too exhausted to read it. When walking from classes, we often find ourselves surrounded by countless pairs of dark circles under the eyes of those roaming the hallways. Students are far too familiar with this image, similar to how they’re familiar with sleepless nights as a result of an early morning test. This leads many to wonder to what degree sleep deprivation is key towards one’s grades, health, and mental clarity. In short, it really matters, particularly for developing teens, such as the students of Holy Cross.

Across the world, the concept of how families are unique and varying, usually depends on culture. Since Thanksgiving has just happened, a holiday that brings families together to celebrate the blessing of the past year, it’s interesting to look at the cultural differences of families. They can be compared to our own Westernised culture in terms of independence vs dependence on family, views of family and living situations.

The Significance of Dia de los Muertos
By: Luz Antonella Commisso

Each year, we, as Catholics, celebrate All Souls Day on November 2nd in order to honour our loved ones who have passed from this life. Typically, this day is taken on with a more solemn approach where prayers are said for the deceased and people attend special masses (All Souls’ Day). In contrast to this method of remembering the dead, a widely celebrated tradition known as Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead in English, is widely celebrated in Mexico and some neighbouring areas.
